week2

This week was much better!! Well, Sunday-Tuesday I was violently ill, but besides that things have, in general, gone very well. We started our primatology class this week and so now that we`re learning about this everyone`s interest is perked. Last night we did a night walk in the forest and I saw 4 Avahi, aka Wooly Lemurs. Also saw a sleeping bird, a dwarf lemur, a chameleon, and a nasty cricket. Then we all went to the bar for french fries and some people attempted eating crayfish which was a big gamble (esp since 6 ppl were sick not 1 week ago) but so far everyone is ok.

This Sat is out final for class 2 and then a 2 day hike into the pristine forest then project proposals and then our 10 day cross country trip. Things are def looking up and moral has been boosted :)

Ive started taking more pictures, at first I was just observing but now I`m documenting :)

See you all soon, be safe.

cvb

Im in Mada and it is fun for the most part. There is a lot of rice. We`ve been doing some fun hikes and observing some pretty cool animals in our biodiversity class which is over in like a week. Yesterday we visited a nearby village and saw some performances and played with the children, they loved our cameras. It was so nice and the first time Ive seen everybody so super happy since we got here. Its been stressful bc of our coordinator so far here so yesterday was the best bc everyone was happy and today is our day off in the cityish town so we`re having fun.

Today in the cityish town we`re going to a nice restaurant and then swimming. I have a phone here and the number is 261344558368. Call me!

On Oct10 we start our cross country trip ^_^

Madagascar

In Madagascar now. The flight was very very long but I slept most of the way :)

Going to sleep last night I kept thinking about Times Sq. for some reason. I guess I'll make my way there soon after I arrive home.

Today we will go to the zoo, which apparently is a little depressing.

Also, there is either a Malaria pill stuck in my throat since Paris or the Malaria pill scratched my throat and has been hurting me since Paris. Annoying. Otherwise, life is good.

Paris

I'm in Paris now. Flight here was good, pretty long. I've never been on a plane so big. The flight to Mada is in a few hours :)

इ'म आउट

The title is "I'm out" but I guess it's strange alphabet day.

So I'm finalizing my baggage and this guy decides he wants to come along :)

I'm very nervous about the "unknown" but at the same time excited and proud that I'm doing this. Thankfully, I have things to read on the flight (thank you, Jess) and I also have a camera (thank you, brother) that I can play with and take pictures of the land/sky with.

My things are bit large, I hope the weight is alright. I replaced my two towels with 6 shamwows which opened up a lot of space and hopefully took out some ounces. I suppose I'll miss the softness of towels, but shamwows are too efficient to complain about.

I'm going through everything in my head and I'm sure I've forgotten at least 32249 different things, but in the orientation yesterday they made a valid point: People survive there with much less than I'm bringing. So, I've got the basics and anything I'm missing I'll just find a way to function without.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this trip possible, my Dad especially. I appreciate every minute of talk, every hug, every spare room/couch for the night, and every generous penny from everyone. Thank you.

Perhaps I can report back from Paris next.
